Half of Serbian population uses Internet

Temporarily at least, 52 percent of Serbia citizens have access to the Internet. This is the result of the latest research on use of new media presented by the Ipsos Strategic Marketing agency. Among them even 76 percent are young people that grew up with digital technologies. Half of those using the Internet are active on the "Facebook".
The average user of the Internet in Serbia is a male between 12 and 29 years of age, attending secondary school or a faculty. According to the poll carried out from April 6 to 20 this year, 68 percent are using the Internet every day, as said by Jasna Milosevic, Director for media in this agency.
According to her, 90 percent of the population uses the Internet in search of information, 77 percent for reading of news, 71 percent for exchange of electronic mail, 15 percent for education and only 2 percent for doing their job. The Internet sites are being visited mainly between 17.00 and 22.00.
For 77 percent of urban population television is still the most important medium for getting daily information. In this case the Internet is on the second place with 13 percent, printing media 7 percent and radio 2 percent.
